Installing porous pavement is a relatively new way to help alleviate storm water runoff. Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury installed a porous concrete parking lot last summer. The concrete filters out chemicals, directing cleaned water to the soil underneath. This decreases the flow of dirty water into the Wicomico River and the Chesapeake Bay.
